The closer you are, the clearer it gets.
Developing countries are undergoing rapid change. We reveal the facts on the ground by putting people on the frontlines who can decipher the causes and consequences of ever-shifting events.
Often native to the areas where we work, our employees recognize the drivers of instability or resiliency that an outsider cannot.
Based on this knowledge, we construct models that thoroughly explain the environment. We then advise our clients how to reach their objectives and bring positive change through innovative programming.
Unraveling the complexity of transitional societies requires local expertise. A majority of our employees were raised or have spent their careers in the areas where we work.
This local knowledge not only allows us greater insight into the places where we work, but allows our program teams to mobilize immediately and minimize delay.
The long-term investments we make in our staff gives us the skills and knowledge to adapt to volatile conditions and stay current.
Programs benefit from the combination of their insight and our subject matter experts’ experienced analysis. This combination allows for policy and planning recommendations that take into account complex environments, whether they be urban, rural, or digital.
Rooted in the Community
No matter our area of operation, we deeply respect the communities we work within and we strive to earn their respect through long-term engagement and contribution.
We give back to local economies by sustaining a business model that provides long-term employment and fosters local talent. This model is built on the belief that ad-hoc, project-based firms fail to develop experienced staff and unnecessarily increase start-up and close-down costs.
We’re committed to investing in our employees’ careers, often taking them from entry-level to leadership positions.
We also devote time and resources to leaders and organizations that enrich our local surroundings through sports, arts, and civil society. We believe in social investment, the idea that investing in communities, organizations, or individuals, increases the sustainability of our own organization.
Investing in societies
Supporting an “Art Incubator” in Lebanon
Sayara International promotes the arts in Lebanon by helping to connect artists with the Lebanese Swiss Bank’s zero-interest loan program. These special “art loans” are designed to provide local artists with seed funding to develop arts-based businesses. We are also helping to establish a local “art incubator” that will provide a creative space for these art entrepreneurs. This social investment program advances the arts in Lebanon and brings like-minded individuals together to strengthen a vital part of Lebanese society.
Shared Knowledge to Benefit Local Organizations
Sayara International’s CEO, Scott Shadian and Executive Director for Research, Dr. Sam Schueth, held workshops in Gaziantep, Turkey for Syrian civil society organizations. The workshops: “Increasing Your CSO Social Media Footprint” and “M&E from A-Z”, were part of Sayara International’s continuing effort to invest in local and sustainable organizations.
Helping the Afghan National Cycling Team Compete on the International Stage
Sayara International’s sister company in Afghanistan, Sayara Strategies, is providing equipment and funding to the Afghan National Cycling Team to help them compete internationally and reach their goal of participating in the 2016 Summer Olympic Games. Recently, Sayara provided uniform jerseys, equipment, travel and accommodation funding to the team to compete in the 2013 Asia Regional Cycling Championship in New Delhi – their first international tournament.
Promoting Your Road Safety in Lebanon
Sayara International has partnered with the Municipality of Roumieh, a village northeast of Beirut, to help create municipal social development programs in two key areas: youth road safety awareness and environmental protection. We will help the municipality design awareness campaigns and training for the two programs, in addition to an evaluation paradigm to measure their impact.
Supporting the Lebanese Music Scene – Mashrou’ Leila
Civil society is about more than just NGO’s. To show our support, Sayara International donated to one of the most inspiring and dynamic musicians in the region. Mashrou’ Leila has become a voice for Arab youth in a time of transition. Join their crowdfunding campaign and take part! #occupyarabpop
