11 May Human Rights Situation in Colombia

Posted at 13:43h in Recent Posts (Home Page) by Sayara International

Our Colombia team and all at Sayara support those affected by the human rights situation in Colombia.

Please support local social justice organizations such as:

  • Temblores
  • Fundación Karisma
  • Ideas for Peace Foundation
  • FLIP (Foundation for Press Freedom)

Text reads: Right now, Colombian people are taking to the streets in an unprecedented call for social and economic equality. We hope the Colombian government, civil society, community leaders, and the private sector find a way to establish open and permanent dialogue and, more importantly, accountability measures to ensure fulfillment of collective agreements. We stand with Human Rights defenders and their role in protecting the right to protest peacefully. "...the only truly effective justice is that which does not represent revenge, which comes after the fact to punish, but rather that which prevents evils and strives to prevent unjust acts from occurring. " - William Ospina, Colombian author.
